Inspired by the “fraternal socks” challenge in Sock Knitter’s Anonymous, this design ended up looking more like sisters than brothers. The pattern is reminiscent of wallpaper, and all I could think of while knitting these socks were the sisters, Maria and Julia Bertram from Jane Austen’s book Mansfield Park. Both of them were happy to sit in the parlor and wait for young gentlemen, preferably rich and handsome, to come and call.

The prototype socks were knit with 50 gms each of the two colors (US women’s size 8). For larger socks and/or longer legs, you may wish to have 100 gms of each color.
