Part of the fun of knitting for charity is that no matter what size garment (within reason) is produced there will always be a person in need who will fit into it. You may choose to knit with a single strand of worsted weight yarn, add in a single strand of sock yarn or for thicker mittens use two strands of worsted weight held together. Experiment with the stitch counts and see what sizes YOU create.
