If Amalia was the legend of fado, Mariza has become the face of a new generation of singers. She describes her fado as “curvo” or curved – and she takes the form in new directions.

Mariza is a crescent shaped shoulder shawl, with a lace border adapted from the Portuguese Edging in A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker.

The shawl is worked from the top down with three panels of garter stitch. The edging is attached to live stitches at the bottom of the shawl.

For the adventurous intermediate knitter.
