I have recently become obsessed with dyeing yarn in my crock-pot using Kool-Aid.* The variety of colorways you can create with just a few packets of colored powder is thoroughly impressive and I find that as soon as I’ve finished one skein, I want to start another.

I created the Marmalade Candy hat to show off the bright, fruity colors of some of the yarn I have dyed. At first glance, it appears to be a straightforward ribbed beanie, but the
incorporation of slipped stitches and alternating purled
stitches breaks up the colors in the already-variegated yarn even further to give the hat a speckled look. Stretchy and classic, Marmalade Candy is suitable for both men and women.

I dyed my yarn using Lee Meredith’s (Leethal Knits) tutorial, which can be found at this address: http://www.leethal.net/zine/?p=764
