Más o menos : more or less

This gorgeous rectangle lace-patterned shawl can be worked more or less dramatic, romantic, colorful, subtle, wide, narrow, long, short, elegant, feminine. It all depends on how many colors you choose to work and how many pattern-repeats you want to work over. It’s fun to make and great to wear:)

The construction of the shawl is very simple: it is worked side-to-side, and back-and-forth, switching between 3 different lace-patterns divided by garter rows. You can make as many or few of each pattern as you wish, add more or less color, work subtle colors or bold ones - this is a shawl where only your taste and fantasy set the limit.

Material: I used Isager Strik MohairSilk for the single-colored shawl, whereas the multi-colored shawl is worked in KidSilk Haze from Rowan. You might work with similar wools, but I advice that you choose a light wool with a nice drape.

You will need 4 balls of above wool to make a single-colored shawl.
To make the multi-colored shawl you need 3 balls of MC, and 1 ball each of the 5 contrasting colors.

Gauge 23 sts/34 rows in st st = 10x10cm/4x4”

Knitting skills: intermediate. Abbreviations used in the pattern are ssk, yo, k2tog, sl2(as if to k2tog)k1psso, knit and purl. The lace-patterns are repetetive and the patterning is worked from RS only.

The pattern : I guide you through the whole shawl from end to end in a simple and clear way. There are full charts, as well as row-by-row instructions for the lace-patterns. All measurements are given in both cm and inches.

Size Both sample shawls are 46cm/18” wide and length is 180cm/71”. It is very simple to work to other dimensions; either bigger or smaller - by adding/subtracting pattern-repeats - both concerning the width and length.
