Are you looking for a fashionable way to keep your face and ears warm this Winter? Do you want to wear a face mask but are afraid of looking like a robber? Fear no more, your favorite new Winter accessory is here! Maschera was designed to keep you snug and styling all at the same time. Inspired by the JUL Venetian Hinge hardware used to close the cowl, Maschera features a Basket Cable stitch pattern reminiscent of the Venice canals. The snap closures allow you to wear this design in two ways - as a draped cowl, or wrapped around your head to convert into a face mask. However you choose to wear it, you will look and feel awesome!

Maschera features 2 JUL Venetian Hinges in Aubergine. You can also use large buttons to close the cowl. 2 strands of Aran weight yarn are held double for this design, if you desire to use a single strand I would recommend using a bulky weight yarn (and the yardage required will be half!)

This piece was designed for The Fiber Factor Knitting Design Contest - Challenge 6 “Accessorize”! We were challenged to design an accessory inspired by a piece of JUL hardware we were given. You can check out the final pieces and judging from the challenge here.

Enjoy!
