This is the fourth exclusive pattern from the Women of Sci-Fi Collection

A pair of socks inspired by the gynoid from Metropolis.

Starting with orderly ribbing, just like the wealthy families living in the high towers in the city, then continuing the leg is ‘electrical current rings’, representing the iconic transformation scene.

The foot mirrors the cuff, with moss stitch representing the many underground workers who power the great city.

Metropolis has been inspiring artists and film makers since 1927, and my favourite is the 1984 version by Georgio Moroder with a brilliant soundtrack.

I use the magic loop method to knit socks, and this pattern is written to reflect this. It’s easily adaptable for your preferred method though, and I’ll always help if I can!
