Matelassé Sweater is worked from the top down in a textured pattern worked from a chart. First the back is worked flat with short row shaping for the shoulders. The front is worked directly from the cast-on stitches, incorporating a decorative ‘seam’ detail. The neckline is then shaped before the front and back are joined at the underarms to be worked in the round. Finally, stitches are picked-up for the sleeves and neckband. The sleeve decreases are worked with coordinating ‘seam’ detailing. There is no seaming required.
