Matelot is a lovely summery sailor tee that showcases a bold yet simple mosaic stitch,easy to work and full of impact.

It is knitted top-down, using a drop shoulder construction, mostly worked in the round. It starts with the shoulders, cast on provisionally so they can be joined later with a threeneedle bind-off. The body is then worked in the round. A few garter stitch finishes at the armholes and neckline, and you’ve got yourself a quick and satisfying knit.

This pattern is graded according to the back measurement for a fitted silhouette, and offers three bust circumference options per size.

Materials

• Yarn: DK weight.

=> Check all quantities on the last picture on the left.

The sample was knit in Zeeman Livi (185 m / 100 g, 70% viscose, 30% linen), in colorways ecru (02) and green (51).

Choose a DK yarn of similar quality in a solid or lightly variegated colorway if you want to achieve the same look as the original. You may also use cotton, linen, or even non-superwash wool for a warmer version.

• Circular needles: 4 mm (US 6) for the main body. 3.5 mm (US 4) for all garter stitch finishing. A third 4 mm (US 6) needle for the three-needle bind-off at the shoulders.

• 12 to 21 stitch markers to mark motif repeats if needed, and up to 4 extra markers for technical sections.

• Two stitch holders.

• A scrap piece of contrasting yarn for provisional cast-ons + a 4 mm crochet hook.

The model shown in the photos is a size 6 FB2 (+14 cm at the back, +6 cm at the sleeves, +22 cm at the bust, +20 cm at

The pattern was graded with the largest default ease values.

Gauge

Washed, blocked, and dry: 20 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” over mosaic stitch worked flat and in the round.

It is important to match gauge to get the intended size. Note that mosaic stitch is often tighter when worked in the round. Be sure to swatch in the round to avoid an unwanted cinching effect when transitioning from flat to circular knitting.

Matelot est une jolie marinière estivale qui fait la part belle à un chouette point mosaïque,simple à réaliser avec un max d’effet.

Il se tricote du haut vers le bas (top-down), selon une construction drop shoulders, essentiellement en rond. On commence par les épaules, via un montage provisoire, afin
de les rabattre à trois aiguilles plus tard. Puis on tricote le corps en rond. Quelques finitions au point mousse aux emmanchures et à l’encolure, et voilà un T-shirt vite fait bien fait.

Ce modèle est gradé selon la mesure dos pour un porté seyant et propose trois possibilités de tour de poitrine par taille.

Matériel :

• Fil : épaisseur DK.

=> Voir les métrages sur la dernière image à gauche.

Le prototype a été tricoté en Livi de Zeeman (185 m / 100 gr, 70 % viscose, 30% lin), coloris écru (02) et vert (51).

Privilégiez un fil DK de la même qualité dans un coloris peu varié si vous souhaitez obtenir le même effet que l’original. Vous pouvez également utiliser du coton, du lin, voire de la laine NSW pour une version plus hivernale.

• Aiguilles circulaires : 4 mm pour l’essentiel du corps. Des 3,5 mm pour toutes les finitions en point mousse. Une troisième aiguille 4 mm pour faire le rabat à 3 aiguilles des épaules.

• 12 à 21 marqueurs pour distinguer les répétitions du motif au besoin, jusqu’à 4 marqueurs pour les zones techniques.

• Deux arrête-mailles.

• Un reste de fil contrastant pour faire les montages provisoires + un crochet 4 mm.

Les tailles disponibles : (0, 1, 2, 3) {4, 5, 6} [7, 8, 9] (10, 11, 12, 13).

Les mesures du tableau sont en centimètres et représentent les mesures du vêtement fini.

Le modèle porté sur les photos est une T6 FP2 (+14 cm au dos, + 6 cm aux manches, +22 cm au TDP, +20 cm aux hanches).

Le modèle a été gradé avec les aisances les plus grandes par défaut.

Échantillon

Lavé, bloqué et sec : 20 m x 30 rgs, 10 x 10 cm selon le point mosaïque en AR et en rond.

Il est important de respecter l’échantillon pour obtenir la taille attendue. Notez qu’on tricote souvent le point mosaïque plus serré en rond, vérifiez bien votre échantillon en rond si vous ne
voulez pas un effet resserré du corps à la transition AR > en rond.
