This hat draws a parallel for me between my memories of growing up in the Rocky Mountains and a dear friend who exudes the sort of the peace those mountains give me. I really enjoy a very dark or very light color for the main color and a semi-solid, hand dyed multi-colored, or handspun for the contrasting color.

Yarn: 70(90) yd 64(82.5) m main color, 30(75) yd 27.5(68.5) m contrasting color worsted weight yarn

Gauge: blocked, approximately 5.25 sts/in. 2.5 cm

Needles: size 7 US/4.5 mm or whatever size you need to get gauge, 16 in. 40 cm circular needle and double pointed needles, with an optional size 6 to do the the ribbing with

Sizes: small - 13.7 in. 35 cm circumference and will fit head sizes 14.75-15.75 in. 37.5-40 cm, 3-6 months (large - 20.5 in. 52 cm circumference and will fit head sizes 21.5-22.5 in. 54.5-57 cm, adult small to medium). Sizes can be further adjusted by change of needle size.
