Mattingley is worked in one piece which makes it a quick knit with almost no finishing. The body is worked in the round to the underarm, then it is split and the front and back are worked separately to the shoulders. Shoulder stitches are joined by working a three needle cast off and stitches are picked up around the armhole. Sleeves are worked in the round from the top down.

The chart is wrong. Row 2 should be row 1. The written instructions for the lace pattern is correct.
On row 3 and 4 work the double yarn overs as (k1, k1 tbl).
