Mattock is a casual hat with great linear texture inspired by the rolling farmlands and vineyards surrounding New York’s Finger Lakes region. Designed as the perfect partner for the Mattock Cowl, featuring the same deceptively simple repeat of ribbing and seed stitch with a hearty garter stitch brim, the Mattock hat is a fun knit that’s satisfying to make and stylish to wear.

Required Skills:
long-tail cast-on, knit, knit two together, purl, purl two together, slip slip knit, decreasing on DPNs. Prior experience with ribbing and seed stitch makes the pattern easy to memorize. Hat is knit in the round.
