Knitting Pattern for a classic, boxy sweater with a round neck, straight sleeves and a modern checked pattern, crocheted all over body and sleeves in sizes 1-2 | 2-3 | 3-4 (4-5 | 5-6 | 7-8) 9-10 | 11-12 | 13-14 years.

Structure:
The sweater is worked top down in stockinette stitch in one piece. To shape the round neck and the shoulder section, the sweater is first worked back and forth in rows with raglan increases along the two shoulder lines in every row (in right side rows and in wrong side rows!). There are additional increases to shape the round neck, which take place in every right side row. Once the round neck is closed to the round, a few rounds are worked in stockinette stitch with raglan increases along the shoulders. Then, front and back are worked separately to shape the armholes. Then, front and back part are joined again to the round and finished in stockinette stitch in the round. Afterwards, stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armholes and the sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch in ROWS – this way it will be easier to crochet the vertical stripes on the sleeves. Last but not least, a collar in 1x1 ribbed pattern is attached to the neckline.
As mentioned before, the body and sleeves are worked in a striped pattern with a contrasting colour. After finishing the sweater, vertical stripes are crocheted all over body and sleeves to create a modern, checked pattern with a nice texture.
The fit of the sweater is very comfortable due to the relatively high positive ease. The length is slightly cropped for a modern, boxy look. The sleeves are straight, but tighten at the cuffs and are finished with in 1x1 ribbed pattern.
