Majblomman (Swedish, ‘May flower’) is a traditional Swedish charity pin sold by schoolchildren in April–May every year since 1907, originally to collect money for people suffering from tuberculosis.
Now days the charity helps deprived children, raises awareness of
child rights and it is sold in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Estonia.
Majblomma is of different color every year, and the colors are chosen by children.
I wanted to honor the tradition by making my own Majblomma socks. I used to love those small plastic flowers!
In 2020 the flower will be sold in the fall due to covid-19.

The socks are knitted cuff down, with short row heel and classic wedge toe.
The design has a couple special stitches, bobble and big bobble and they are both described stitch by stitch in the pattern.
