Maya Mermaid crochet pattern creates a very special toy. The crocheted fabric is both textured and durable. The head of the doll is sized to snugly fit a 1.5” diameter rattle insert.

Maya mermaid is worked in 6 pieces: head/body, 2 arms, 2 fins, and hair. Like most amigurumi, this piece is worked in a continuous spiral. Do not join rounds. Using a stitch marker can help keep track of rounds. The total number of stitches in a round is given in parenthesis ( ). Stuff as you go (polyester filling, cotton, yarn scraps, etc.). Finish the piece by sewing together the parts and embroidering the eyes using a yarn needle.

---MATERIALS---

The toy pictured was made using 3.00mm and 3.50mm crochet hooks, stuffing, a yarn needle, and worsted weight (size 4) acrylic yarn from Red Heart. You can use any size yarn (will affect final size) or any type of yarn. The Silver Hook likes to use acrylic yarn for babies since it is stain resistant and durable yarn.
