Is this a Rodent of Unusual Size? I don’t think so. It looks pretty usual to me!

To make a Menacing Rodent of your very own, you need to know basic stitches: sc, HDC, DC, and sc2tog, or a single crochet decrease. The pattern has clear instructions and lots of pictures, so while this might not make the ideal first ami, I don’t think it’s in any way out of the reach of a beginner. I can work one up in an afternoon, and I bet you can, too.

From a supplies standpoint, you should have:

  • G hook
  • Heathered or variegated brown yarn (I used Lion Brand Heartland Sequoia)
  • Pink yarn
  • A tiny scrap of black yarn
  • A bit of white fabric or white felt for the teeth (I used felt and some fabric glue, which makes the teeth go quickly)
  • Small safety eyes (I used 6mm)

The one thing you might not have laying about is fishing line, but it makes such good whiskers that I think it’s very much worth the trouble of getting some. Invisible hanging wire also works, although inch for inch, it’s a little more costly than fishing line.
