This pattern was inspired by and gifted to a dear friend who appreciates the love of a hand knit item. She also is a wine lover, so I made this cowl in variegated shades of red and purples just like her favorite merlot. The design starts with a seed stitch section followed by a lace section. This pattern is repeated a total of three times so the pattern is easy knitting, but not boring. Great for knitters of all skill levels.

The cotton creates a lusciously soft feel while still being washable. Cowl can be wrapped once for a nice draped scarf feel, or twice for a shorter warm neck cowl.

Pattern updated 2/25/13: Deleted row 12 from original instructions. Need only work rows 2 through 11 for the pattern repeat. Thanks!
