These cozy gloves were inspired by pale iridescent rainbows in a gray sky, a common sight in foggy San Francisco. The fabulous people of the Bay Area love to dress like mermaids on the daily, but the city’s usual fog and drizzle don’t mesh well with shell bikinis. Hence these sirenic gloves, embellished with tiny sequins that sparkle like fish scales.

The thin sequin strand is carried along with the contrasting color and has no effect on the gauge, making it totally optional (although the sparkle effect really does make these gloves something special). Because the center panel is made with intarsia, the gloves are knit flat and then seamed up the palm. Only the thumbs are knit in the round.
