An easy lace-stitch cowl knit in the round with optional beads. The cowl is long enough to wear loose as a scarf, or wrapped twice around the neck for a more snug fit. It features an undulating lace wave pattern.

This cowl was written for use with one Wooly Wonka Fibers Transitional Pack (but may, of course, be knit with any sock-weight yarn of your choosing). Instructions are given for working a subtle color change effect with the Transitional Pack, explaining when to change yarns, but this cowl could easily be knit with a single color or gradiant skein of yarn. You will need a total of approximately 380 yards to knit the pattern as written. Although gauge is not crucial in this project, it may affect the amount of yardage you use to complete it.

Bead placement is optional, but if desired, the beads are to be placed using the crochet-hook method. A total of 378 size-6 seed beeds were used for the sample.

Suggested skills: Knit/purl, chart reading, knitting in the round.
