I set out to design a cabled hat. What I didn’t think would happen was that it would evolve itself into these: new style cables, that resemble DANCING MERMAID TAILS!

Cable twisty body and fanned fin, the next row nestles in between the previous! It’s lusciously thick and squishy and can be done in solid for understated or color changed for dramatic! Whimsy and texture combined!

You get both Messy Bun and Full Hat instruction. Unroll the folded brim and you now have a Slouch Hat!

In the pattern, I’ve noted the yarn used for the multi inspired by The Little Mermaid in colors and also noted where the color changes were made so you can mimic that if that strikes your fancy!

The hat NOW INCLUDES a toddler/child AND teen/adult size. It’s super stretchy brim allows it to accomodate most with these two sizes. The smaller fits both my 3 and 5 year old equally well as a reference point.

You will need to be intermediate level in skill, while not difficult, some of the stitch placements may be new to you so you will have to follow each round carefully. It has been tested by many lovely testers and has photos for clarity. As always, I am here to help if needed!

You’re going to need a 4.25mm (G) hook and worsted weight yarn.
Gauge checking is necessary, but I’ve made it part of the pattern to make it as quick and painless as possible.

You can most certainly sell the hats you create from the pattern. The pattern is my copyrighted property, so by purchasing you agree to never share it, loan it, or sell it either in part or in whole in any manner verbal, electronic, or otherwise. Instead please share the link to this listing so that each lovely soul can purchase their own copy! I don’t necessarily mind if you use my photos to say you “COULD” create this hat for sale, but if doing so the photos must remain unaltered and you must state they are not your work, but a representation of what you could make linking to the pattern. Thank you so very much!
