This pattern makes a sweet and cuddly mermaid doll, with a pretty peplum top. The doll is knit with worsted weight yarn, and can have simple knitted hair, or can be embellished with a hairstyle of your own design. The peplum top is knit from fingering weight yarn, and is reversible, so you have two style options.

Pattern is intermediate level. Skills required include stockinette and ribbed stitches, k2tog, ssk, and centred double decrease (s2kp), m1 and fkb increases, bobbles, and mattress stitch. All pieces are knit flat and then seamed, stuffed, and assembled. Three hair styles are described in the pattern, but have fun styling your finished toy!

Mermaid Materials: 35 g of worsted weight yarn for body (A), 25 g of worsted weight yarn for tail (B), 15 g of worsted weight yarn for hair (C), extra 15-25 g of yarn for long hair (lace-worsted, optional), pair of 4 mm (US size 5) knitting needles, stitch markers, pair of 12 mm safety eyes or buttons, stuffing, yarn to embroider face, tapestry needle, small crochet hook for attaching hair (optional)
Reversible Peplum Top Materials: 15 g of fingering weight yarn, pair of 3.25 mm (US size 3) knitting needles, tapestry needle, scrap yarn or stitch holders, one small button plus needle and thread to attach

Versions downloaded before May 13, 2019 had a couple of mistakes in the Mermaid pattern. In the instructions for the Body, the last row is numbered wrong. Row 78 is actually Row 82. In the instructions for the Left Fringe, the third line of instructions should be Row 3-12.
