Several people had mentioned seeing a knitted cowl in a popular women’s high fashion collection some years ago. It was very soft and chic. I was inspired by the design and created this cowl knit in the round(theirs was seamed on one side) using beautiful hand painted Artyarns fibers. While Artyarns no longer carries their Ultra Bulky Merino wool, there are loads of options available from the many wonderful Indie dyers or yarn companies that carry aran or light bulky weight yarns.
Consider any yarn that normally knits up on a US10-11/6-7mm needle. These will work well for the base yarn. There are also many lovely hand dyed silk mohairs available. Explore your stash or LYS for a great combination. This garment has enormous drape and is surprisingly lightweight.
My friend Michelle tried it on just as I completed it and found it so warm and cozy that she didn’t want to take it off so I named it for her. It looks great on everyone and can be worn for warmth and or just as a fashion statement.
