Originally published in Issue 26 of Yarn Forward magazine, this revised Mimo includes instructions for a smaller size, new photos, line-by-line instructions (in addition to the original charts), and a wider alternate edging.

Part cowl, part hood, Mimo is a quick-knit Moebius in a linen-blend yarn perfect for cool spring days and summer nights -- or any time, if wool just isn’t for you. The length and width can easily be adjusted by casting on fewer stitches to make a snood, more stitches to make a long wrap, or working the main chart again to make a deeper hood.

Mimo is worked in a variation of scroll lace, substituting p2tog and p2tog-tbl for the traditional k2tog and ssk. Purling the decreases gives the “scrolls” more definition on both the “inside” and “outside” halves of the Moebius, producing a distinct and lovely entrelac-like effect on each.

The stitch pattern is easy to memorize, which makes Mimo great for the experienced knitter with a craving for a portable lace project. Mimo is also a good beginning lace project with decreases placed at the edges of the pattern repeat, so it’s almost always simple to pick up a forgotten yarnover on the next round (or even the round after that).
