The Knit Christmas pants the little ones in your life just can’t do without! Knit a pair in any of the 10 sizes included in this pattern for all the little elves in your life. The pattern includes charts to duplicate stitch a boy face or a girl face onto the booty or just leave them without. The bright Christmas colors and striped legs give the Elf appearance with or without the adorable face stitched into them.

The needle sizes needed vary depending on the size you are stitching, as does the gauge. All details for what gauge is expected from which needles are all included in the pattern.
This pattern was written using mainly Knit Picks Brava Sport Weight Yarn (in red and grass green, see notes below on the white used)
1 skein =273 yards was adequate to complete all sizes except 5-6 child. This needed a small amount from a second skein for color A, to equate to approximately 300-325 yards for that size only.
Cascade Cherub DK was a comparable substitute in yarn weight, but had much lower yardage per skein so keep this in mind when choosing the yarn to complete your project. You will want to calculate your yardage carefully. If you use a different size yarn (i.e. worsted weight) you will need to adjust the size you are making (make a larger or smaller size) and/or adjust your needle size to ensure you are getting the proper gauge. Just use caution in your substitutions to ensure your gauge is correct so your final sizing will also be correct.

You will also want to ensure you have enough yarn to complete the whole project. Minimum of 150 yards for smallest sizes up to 325 yards for largest for color A. Plan to have 150 yards for smallest sizes to 250 yards for largest sizes for colors B and C. The white used was in various brands (Bernat Softee Baby, Caron Simply Soft and Loops and Threads Snuggly Wuggly to name a few) as the Knit Picks Brava Sport Weight White yarn was not white enough for my liking.

Please feel free to email me at stayathomestitchings@live.com with any yarn questions you have.

You will also need enough scrap yarn in black, white, pink and blue to duplicate stitch the Elf face onto the booty of the pants as pictured in my photos.
