This scarf was inspired by the diamond sword in the world-building game Minecraft. For functional reasons, it’s not a perfect copy, but it is easily recognizable by anyone familiar with the game. You could easily modify this pattern to make any one of the other swords (wood, gold, stone, or iron) by changing the color of the squares. More information about swords in Minecraft may be found here.

This pattern will be most useful to those who already have experience with making granny squares and joining crochet motifs using single crochets. It includes pictures of the finished scarf, instructions for creating and assembling the squares, and a special reversible zig-zag joining technique developed specially for this scarf.

The pattern does not have detailed pictures and has not been tested. Please let me know if anything is confusing, and I will do my best to clarify and fix any errors.

No specific yarn is recommended because I used odds and ends of worsted weight yarn that I had around. You will not need a full skein of any of the colors.
