Mini Mania socks are knitted cuff down using mini skeins so that you can get the perefect 5 row stripe repeat.

There is a cunning technique which means that although you don’t carry yarns along the sock, you still only have six ends to weave in per sock.

Pattern Tutorial: To accompany this pattern I have created a pattern tutorial. This is available through a private YouTube link that can only be accessed by people that have bought the pattern.

If you make these socks please do upload your WIP and FO on Ravelry. It would be great to see them on Instagram too - #MiniMania #FayDHDesigns @faydhdesigns

Yarn: 6/7 x 20g of RiverKnits British Bluefaced Leicester mini skeins (400m/437yds per 100g).
I used Shadow Jade (contrast cuffs/heels and toes), Earth Green, Shadow Orange, Earth Tomato, Shadow Crimson and Earth Yellow for the first pair.

In the second pair, the Shadow Jade contrast was swapped out for Unicorn Violet.

From the 7 x 20g mini skeins, I was able to knit a 64st size 7 sock and a 60st size 7 sock.

Up to a 64 st sock, you only need 6 x mini skeins. If you are knitting a 68+ stitch sock, you will need 2 x 20g for your heel, toe and cuff colour.

It is possible to get two pairs of socks from 7 x 20g minis.

Yarn substitutes: Something with the same or very similar meterage. It can be a different blend but be aware that meterage requirements will change if you substitute yarns. For sock knitting, you ideally want a yarn with a very high twist and/or some nylon or nettle content. These three elements bring durability. Superwash makes them machine washable. That said, I happily machine wash my 100% Corriedale (non-superwash), high twist socks.

Needles: 2.25mm short circulars and a set of 2.25mm double pointed needles.

Gauge/tension: unblocked 16.5 sts and 22 rounds over 5cm. Blocked 16 sts and 22 rounds over 5cm.
