This could be called the Easiest Vest Pattern.

The rib pattern is both forgiving and reversible which means you don’t need to stress about getting the gauge exactly AND one set of instructions takes care of both boy and girl side buttonholes.

Knit in one piece up to the armholes, then divided into fronts and the back, this is a quick project with only the shoulder seams to sew and an easy single crochet around the armholes and down the front as finishing. You can, if you like, work the edge crochet in a contrast color or colors.

Thanks to Mary Clark of StellaPop Handknits who let me base this pattern on her women’s Rej Vest.
