These socks originated as part of Sock Knitters Anonymous’s challenge in June of 2010 to design your own sock. I took up the challenge after being inspired by Debbie New and her concept for labyrinth knitting. The leg is worked flat in garter stitch, and after binding off, seamed to create a rectangle. Stitches are then picked up for the garter stitch short row heel and plain foot.

Directions will not only allow you to reproduce the socks seen in the PDF of the pattern, but also how to create your own customized Minotaurs. Additionally, there will be additional labyrinths with directions to create that are not pictured. However, directions will not have highly detailed instructions for the heel/foot/toe, so some knowledge of sock construction is necessary.

UPDATE: April 2, 2010

Thanks to some suggestions from others, I’ve updated the pattern to include 12 total labyrinths, with two widths and two different heights.
