When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

When life gives you 6 feet of snow in 14 days, make a hat.

It made me so happy to work on this hat between bouts of shoveling. It’s quick and easy - so knitting it during the storm meant that it was ready to wear the next day out in the snow!

The yarn is Julie Asselin’s Ankara Bulky - in her beautiful Tahiti colorway. I saw it at Slater Mill and fell in love with the way the subtle pale pink/lavender highlights pair with the icy blue background. And Julie’s mix of 85% merino and 15% mohair makes a super soft and smooshy skein to work with!

Staying with the winter theme, I used Barbara Walker’s Snowflake Lace - just detailed enough to pop in the bulky yarn. I paired the lace with a deep brim, some simple crown shaping and about 2 hours next to the fire.

You can find Ankara at many of the yarn shops that stock Julie Asselin’s yarn (listed here on her website)

If none of those shops are near you, Julie has an Etsy page - with different colorways and yarns available! available Click HERE
