This pattern is for a blanket in two sizes, both worked in cosy worsted weight yarn. Tom’s blanket is just the right size to keep a baby warm in his cot or pram. Miranda’s blanket is larger, made to tuck over your knees on the couch.

The larger Miranda blanket is 75 cm (29.5 in) wide and 115 cm (45 in) long and the small Tom blanket is 75 cm (29.5 in) wide and 90 cm (35.5 in) long.

Both blankets are worked in one piece using cables and simple lace to create a textured, diagonal pattern. The cable crosses change direction throughout the design, flowing from one corner to the other.

The pattern is available with charts or with line by line instructions for both sizes of the blanket. There is also a separate file containing showing both of the blankets as one full chart - this is set up for use on electronic devices. Each of these three options is a separate pdf - all are included in the purchase price.

The yarn required is about 730 metres (800 yards) for Miranda’s blanket and 610 metres (665 yards) for Tom’s blanket. The blanket shown uses Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 ply in colour Autumn Glow.

This pattern was designed for my friend Miranda to celebrate the birth of her first child - a son named Tom.
