Mister D. Ceased is here to haunt your house! This PDF crochet pattern (US terminology) will guide you to crochet a creepy but wonderful amigurumi skull as shown in pictures, perfect for your Halloween decorations! It will be made using soft acrylic 8 ply / DK yarn and crochet hook size D (3 mm).
Finished size will be approx. 7” x 5.5” x 5.5” (18 x 14 x 14 cm) h x w x d.

The skulls’ deep eye sockets and the upper jaw are joined together with the skull while crocheting. There is chenille wire inside the lower jaw, to give it shape and sturdiness. All parts in this pattern will be worked in continuous rounds.

This pattern is also suitable for wool or cotton yarn. If you wish to make a smaller or larger version of this skull, you can just use thinner or thicker yarn and a matching size crochet hook.
Stylecraft Special DK was used to create the skull in the pictures.

Skill level: Intermediate - advanced.
Gauge: Not important for this pattern, just crochet tight enough so the stuffing will not show through the stitches.

Materials used:

  • Crochet hook size D (3 mm)
  • Yarn (8 ply / DK) in white (approx. 80 gr, 258 yds, 235 mm)
  • Fiberfill stuffing (preferably a sturdy kind, not the fluffy stuff from cheap pillows)
  • Chenille wire in white or matching color (to shape the jaw), embroidery floss in light brown
  • Stitch markers, tapestry needle, pins, scissors, small fork / chop sticks (as stuffing tools)

Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, single/half double/double crochet, increasing, decreasing
