Mistress Tippet is a scarf or shawlette with a garter stitch shawl collar, finished in a simple feather and fan lace. The scarf may be worn with the ends hanging down in front, or with the ends overlapped and secured at the shoulders for a double breasted cowl effect. For a snugger fit, the ends may also be secured at the center back.

Mistress Tippet is worked in one piece from the top down. 450 yards of any soft dk or light worsted weight yarn will work. Other materials needed are a 32 inch circular needle, stitch markers and buttons.

German short rows are used to shape the collar.
