“Warm, long wearing, and comfortably flexible,” according to book editor Margaret Klein Wilson.

Three adults’ and three children’s sizes are offered. Finished measurement around the hand above the thumb opening ranges from 8 inches (20.5cm) to 10 inches (25.5cm). Children’s sizes range from 5 inches (12.5cm) to 6.5 inches (15cm.)

These mittens are knit densely using a worsted weight mohair blend and small needles. You will need a set of four double pointed needles, a tapestry needle and a small stitch holder or safety pin.

The pattern lends itself to lots of variation. The book shows samples knit in a variety of stripe and flecked patterns although the basic pattern is for a solid color mitten.

The thumb extends from a gusset. Only the location of the gusset is changed to make the right and left hands.

The mittens are described as an easy knit.
