Directions for knitting thumb seem to be missing, and no errata is available.

To knit thumb: Pick up the gusset stitches and knit in the round on US6 dpns until the thumb is the desired length. K2tog to end. Cut yarn and draw tail through remaining sts. using a yarn needle and fasten inside.
