Mittens on Strings
From the book:
“A little home-made practicality, mittens are a must when the weather gets coler and little hands need to keep warm. The mittens can be made in an evening or on the way to work and back. Knitted in stocking (stockinette) stitch with a rib cuff to tuck up the inside of the coat, they have a little contrasting-colour tip detail. They are designed in two sizes, and you may wish to make several pairs for little gifts for grand-children or nephews or nieces. If you make a little string from tubular knitting to attach the mittens, and thread them through the sleeves of the coat, the mittens will never stray!”
