A classic houndstooth pattern is mixed with another classic, even stripes, to prevent this little cowl from being too formal.

Two colours are used. The size has been adjusted for only two balls of Donegal, one in each colour.

The knitting tension is a bit loose; 20 sts / 10 cm. Donegal will shrink a bit in washing lengthwise. The final tension is a bit tighter, because the loop will stretch to be narrower.

The tweed pattern is knitted with slipped stitches. There is always only one colour per row. The tweed stitch pattern can be found as Scottie Tweed in Barbara Walker’s book A Third Treasury of Knitting Patterns on page 229.

An alternative yarn: Geilsk Tweed
