Miyu is a lovely rag-doll in the form of a mystical and rather pretty hare. Named after the Japanese meaning for ‘beautiful moon’, she is bound to be loved by little (and not so little!) ones everywhere. Soft, floppy, but not too floppy, she is cosy to cuddle, the perfect size for small hands and will sit or lay flat. Her stylish laced boots, stripy tights and removable flared frock can all be made in the colours of your choosing to make your Miyu truly unique. Pattern includes dress and tiny flower.

Size: Miyu is approx 14 inches/36cms from tip of her toes to top of her head with a centre body diameter of approx 6.5 inches/17cms.
Gauge is not essential for this project, more importantly is a firm, even tension throughout.

This is a detailed, 19 page, fully written pattern aimed at intermediate makers with experience of knitting in the round. Majority of project is worked seamlessly with a small amount of sewing required for construction.

Materials you wlll need.
Yarn A: (Body/Head/Arms/Ears) DK/Light worsted, held double stranded or Aran/Worsted yarn, held single stranded (approx 75m) in a Brown (or Grey or colour of your choice): Example used Rowan Pure Wool Superwash in Oxblood Shade, held double stranded.
Yarn B: (Boots) DK/Light worsted, held double stranded or Aran/Worsted yarn, held single stranded (approx 35m) in red or colour of your choice: Example used Rowan Pure Wool Superwash in Kiss Shade, held double stranded.
Yarn C: (Tights) Aran Cotton yarn (approx 45m) in a self striping or other colour-way: Example used Rico Creative Cotton Print Aran in Light Blue Denim shade, held single stranded.
Yarn D: (Frock) DK/Light Worsted, held single stranded. (approx 75m). Example used BC Garn Semilla, in shade OB112.

Scraps of black yarn for lacing the boots and facial features.
Scrap of any DK yarn for flower.
Two glass oval beads or two black oval buttons for the eyes OR for a child friendly version opt for embroidering large french knots or sewing on felt/embroidered eyes. (Example used amethyst coloured beads with a centre foil lining.)
I also added a couple of tiny beads to the flower centre but again would advise to add french knots if giving to a child.
Toy stuffing.
Large eyed tapestry/wool needles, one short for weaving in ends and one long sharp needle for assembling and forming features.
Stitch Marker.
Stitch Holders or spare 3.00mm needle.
Size 3.00mm circular needles. These are used throughout and give a deliberately tight fabric that is essential for a stuffed toy. Choose a cable length that you feel comfortable with for working the magic loop. Dpn’s could be used instead if you prefer but bear in mind that the instructions are written for magic loop and you will need to take care about the division of stitches for shaping. (NB: I have not knitted her on dpn’s myself).
