If you are familiar with spring time in the UK you will no doubt know that the weather is incredibly changeable. You can leave the house in the morning in all the woolly items you own and your big winter coat but by the afternoon you have jettisoned half of what you are wearing only to need to wrap up again half an hour later. These mitts are for those kinds of days where you get three seasons in one day. The wool ensures that if it is chilly your hands are kept nice and warm whilst the lace detail means that if the sun does come out unexpectedly you don’t overheat, and it looks pretty. As these mitts are fingerless you can still use your hands without having to take them off, useful for unbuttoning and rebuttoning your coat every 5 minutes. If the weather does take a serious turn for the worse though and your fingers get cold the mitts have enough ease in them to enable you to tuck your fingers down inside them until it warms up again.

Both of the yarns I have chosen are ones to lift your spirits on a grey day with a colourful, sparkly handspun and a naturally dyed, vibrant, yellow yarn from an indie dyer. So even if the sun doesn’t come out you can still carry a little bit of sunshine and sparkle around with you to brighten your day. As always though please feel free to substitute yarn for any other yarn that suits your style, budget or preferences provided you are able to match the pattern tension.
