What does a mom do, when her son asks: “Can you make me ‘something for over my shoulders’?” … Right! I made this ruana for him.
I think it will be a very wearable item for anybody though, man or woman. The pattern is written in ‘one size fits all’. It is very easy to make it smaller/wider and/or shorter/longer.
Mo has become a firm, yet well-draping ruana with that special beautiful texture of Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS). To avoid the curling, I cheated a bit - we will start and end with a border in traditional crochet.

Tania Leis had made a video tutorial for Mo.

Heidrun Liegmann had a big share in this pattern, by adding lots of extra pictures and descriptions. Because of these and of course because of Tania’s video the Mo pattern is suitable for even beginners - for some of the testers it was their first ever work in Tunisian crochet!
Mirjam Annaars and Audrey Muller edited and tested the pattern as well.
What a blessing they all are!

MOMO
Heidrun Liegmann has made a cardigan of this Ruana by adding sleeves, pockets, side seams and buttons.
She named it ‘Momo’.
It became a wonderful cosy and roomy item. Petra, her model, shows how happy she is with it.
Heidrun published this Momo on her own Ravelry page Magischemaschen, but Ravelry removed the Momo pattern, because they misvalued this cardigan, as they commented, as a duplicate of my Mo and not as a separate pattern.
Heidrun and me tried to contact them and explained in an email that this Momo actually IS a different pattern, but we never got a reply from Ravelry.
I think this is unfair.
This is why you can find Heidrun’s very detailed and well written pattern ‘Momo’, with lots of pictures, here as well.

What do you need to make the ruana Mo:
Yarn:
9 skeins DK weight yarn à 100 gr / 3.5 oz, 2600 m / 2843 y,
I used ‘Saskia’ from Wibra, 240 m per 100 gr
Traditional crochet hook 6 mm -for the borders at the bottom-
Traditional crochet hook 7 mm -for the borders along sides and hood-
Tunisian crochet hook 7 mm at least 17 cm long,
or Tunisian interchangeables with a cable -for the panels and hood-

I hope you’ll have as much fun making the Mo ruana as I did in designing it.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what you will make of Mo - with your colors, your yarn, as your very own special project. Please show me lots of photos in the Haaksteek Facebook group!
