I created this pattern based off a couple different things I was seeing that I liked but couldn’t find in a single hat - I liked the mock cable cuff and loved the texture of the seed stitch and wanted a slouchy hat but no one had done a hat combining the two patterns with the slouch.

In the photo with the three hats you can see how the textures show off the hand-dyed Malabrigo Rios yarn. The first time I knitted this hat I knitted it entirely on size 6 needles and it’s still the hat that I wear - I was going to frog it and reknit it starting on 3s and going to 6s for the seed stitch portion but I haven’t gotten around to it (the hat knitted in Lotus (light purple/blue) in the photo). In the meantime I knitted two more, following this pattern, and am a little sad that I’m giving them away as gifts now because I like them so much! The hat knitted in Jupiter (pink/red) follows the pattern exactly, as did the hat knitted in Zarzamora (dark purple/green), but the Zarzamora hat is lined with fleece so it looks bulkier.

This pattern can easily be sized up or down (as shown it is an adult size) and can also easily be turned from a slouchy hat into a tighter-fitting beanie or skullcap type hat.

Play around with it and if you make your own variations share them in the notes on your project! :-)
