Moder Dy
The Moder Dy (mother wave) is the name given to an ancient form of Shetland maritime navigation. By following the motion of the water which produced the “mother wave”, experienced haaf fishermen were able to find their way to land without additional aid of light or compass. This large hap is constructed in the borders-in Shetland fashion, and contains many echoes of the sea in its auld shell border and wave lace edging. It can be used variously as wrap, blanket or bedspread.
