Ephemeral Fingering Version: US size 4 (3.5 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needles (or sizes needed to obtain gauge and cable sizes to accommodate number of stitches)

Sincere Sock Version: US size 6 (4 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needles (or sizes needed to obtain gauge and cable sizes to accommodate number of stitches)

SKILL LEVEL:

Intermediate - This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Mosaic knitting and reading charts.

Notes from the Designer:

Wrap yourself in diamonds. The Moissanite (Moy-suh-nite) shawl uses mosaic and lace stitches to create beautiful diamonds. Reversing the colors adds additional interest to showcase your handiwork. The Sincere Sock yarn has just the right twist to make the mosaic stitches stand out and give definition to the lace stitches, and the Ephemeral Fingering yarn has a stunning sheen and drape. I hope this wrap will become one of your favorites.

• The Ephemeral Fingering sample shown used approximately 979 yds/895 m total: Color A: 279 yds/255 m, Color B: 263 yds/240 m, Color C: 219 yds/200 m, and Color D: 219 yds/200 m.
• The Sincere Sock sample shown used approximately 1166 yds/1066 m total: Color A: 320 yds/ 293 m, Color B: 320 yds/293 m, Color C: 263 yds/240 m, and Color D: 263 yds/240 m.
• When working the mosaic pattern, slip stitches as if to purl, carrying the yarn in the back of your work on knit rows and with the yarn held in the front on purl rows.
• Pay attention to the instructions for Rows 1–4 of center, Section 5 Mosaic Diamond Part 2.
• Circular needles are recommended, as you will need to start Section 4 on the WS.
• Lifelines are recommended. Click here to watch a tutorial on inserting lifelines.
• If you want a longer shawl, it is recommended that you either add additional rows to Sections 1 and 8 or Sections 3 and 6. Additional yarn may need to be purchased.
• The charts do not include the p1, k1, p1 edging.
• The stitches that are shown in blue in the mosaic charts indicate stitch repeats.
• When flipping the colors for Section 5 Center Mosaic Diamond Part 2, use Chart D only once, and then use Chart C, Rows 3–34 for the additional repeats.
• Blocking is recommended to show off the lace and mosaic sections. Due to the saturated colors used in the sample, the spray blocking method was used.
