Molinara is a little minimalistic shawlette that is easy to wear and fun to knit. Its asymmetric shape and geometric motif give its visual interest. Its simple pattern plays well with hand-dyed or variegated yarn. This flexible design can be worked with as little as 70 g / 2.5 oz of fingering yarn and can be made as long as you wish.
The inspiration for this design came while singing the nursery rythm “Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round” with my toddler. The geometric motif is formed by temporal snapshots of a huge rolling wheel.
A shawlette with a total of 5 motifs measures 177.5 cm / 70” in length and 30.5 cm / 12” in width. See Schematic for additional measurements.
