Finished Measurements:
• Wingspan 91” (230 cm)
• Depth at Center Back 25” (63 cm)

Materials: 4 skeins (280 yards/100 grams) Old Maiden Aunt Alpaca/Silk Sport/DK (80% Merino, 20% Silk), color Red, Red Rose

Needles: size US 4 (3.5 mm) long circular, 1 size US 5 (3.75 mm) double-pointed needle for bind off

Extras: 2 stitch markers, blocking tools, tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: 22 sts and 36 rows over 4” in stockinette stitch, post blocking

Be aware that any difference in gauge will change the size of your finished shawl, as well as the amount of yarn you need to knit it - more stitches to the inch will mean a smaller shawl using less yarn, and vice versa.

Notes

This shawl is worked from the center upper back out and down. It uses increases on the edges and Pi Shawl increases in the center. The Pi Shawl increases happen every time the number of rows doubles, so fairly often in the beginning, but once you’ve worked half of the rows there aren’t any more increases in the middle.

The lace moves the stitches around. I recommend removing the markers in lace sections and putting them back on when you are in the preparation row for an increase. Stitch counts are detailed in the pattern.
