Momentum Deferred is a cowl that appears, at first glance, elegant and complex. But it is really the simple design that lends the graceful element to this project.

The cowl is worked from end to end, with only a brief interruption to created the braid detail.

Because of the construction of this cowl, you can easily adjust the length of your project to create either a short cowl that emphasizes the plait, or a more complex cowl long enough to wrap twice around your neck.

You Will Need:
350 to 400 yds Fingering-Weight Yarn (yarn requirements will vary depending on how long you choose to make your cowl.)
• Pictured: Malabrigo Sock (3-ply; 100% Superwash Merino; 440 yds (402 m)/100g (3.53 oz); Shown in Colorway ‘Eggplant’)
US Size 7 (4.5mm) Straight or Circular Needle – or size needed to obtain gauge
3 Stitch Holders (Double-ended stitch holders are recommended. If you don’t have some, DPNs and needle-protectors will work in a pinch!)
Tapestry Needle
9 buttons approximately ½” (1.25 cm) diameter

Gauge: 6 sts per inch (2.5 cm) in stockinette stitch, unblocked.

Finished Measurements: 40” (102 cm) long by 8” (20 cm) wide
