It’s the middle of my mom’s Birthday Season, and this year, I’m making her a pair of hand-knit socks. As any sock knitter knows, there is nothing quite like the luxury of a pair of socks knit to fit. I had the fortune of having her in town for a few days earlier this month for some critical measurements. I still have a little time before her birthday, but the clock is ticking for me to finish.

I had originally envisioned these socks with an embossed wavy rib from Barbara Walker’s Third Treasury, but after working a full repeat, I found the pattern too bold for the subtleties of the yarn color changes. A few modifications to the pattern, and here is the wavy goodness. Kinda reminds me of the tide pools left on the beach as the tide rolls out.

These socks are knit toe up on two circulars, as is my favorite for better sizing accuracy.
