Pattern Description from One-Skein Wonders: 101 Yarn-Shop Favorites: “Here’s a simple-to-knit flower that you can use to embellish just about anything. Pin it to a hat, to a lapel, or to a scarf. Sew it on a pillow. Make it into a decorative curtain tieback. Attach one to your luggage. You get the picture.”

Measurements: About 5” (12.5 cm) diameter (Note: Exact finished measurements will be determined by the yarn and the point at which you stop felting.)

Yarn:

  • For blue flower: Brown Sheep, Handpaint, 85% wool/15% mohair, 1.75 oz (50 g).88 yds (80 m), Peacock, bit of Limelight, optional
  • For orange flower: South West Trading Company, Amerah, 100% silk, 1.75 oz (50 g)/97 yds (89 m), Citrus

Needles: US 8 (5 mm) straight needles or size you need to obtain correct gauge

Gauge Note: Gauge does not have to be exact, but do not knit too loosely of you will have a droopy flower.

Other Supplies: One button of choice; 2” (5 cm) circle of buckram or other stiffener and pin back, tapestry needle (optional)
