From p.37: “It was possible to achieve a very unusual effect to the cable on this design by working the background in stocking stitch on one side and reverse on the other. This forms a sort of ridge which highlights the cable. The child’s sweater is scaled down, not just in size but also in the pattern repeat itself.”
