This easy, top-down, crescent-shaped shawl can be worn lots of ways and works up quickly using worsted-weight yarn. It is completely customizable since it’s not necessary to have an exact stitch count before adding the lace border. Just keep working the garter section until it is as long as you like. Any weight of yarn and any size needle can be used. As shown, you will need about 210 grams (about 500 yarns) of worsted-weight yarn and a long circular US 8 (5mm) needle, and the shawl will measure about 92” around the outside edge and 64” around the inside edge. The lace border is made from stitches that are cast on after the garter section is finished, and joined as you go by knitting the last border stitch together with a stitch already on the needle. Adding the border is so much fun, you won’t want to put it down! I did not include a chart for the lace because it is VERY simple, and without the chart, the pattern fits on one page. Trust me, you won’t need it.
