Meet our knitted Moose. He’s cute, cuddly and very lovable. This pattern supplies directions for making our Moose.

This moose is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and standard knitting terms. Our Moose is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 90m of medium weight light brown yarn for the head, legs, ears and body and 50 m of medium weight dark brown yarn for the hooves and antlers. With this yarn, use 4mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your moose together. This will let you create a moose that’s approximately 21cm (8 inches) in length, with a 25 cm (10 inch) spread of antlers.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
